Ji Young Yoon took a winding road to become a painter. Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Yoon moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and finished high school. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She also earned MFAs in Fashion Merchandising and Fine Art Painting from the Academy of Art University. Living in Hamburg, Germany, and Santiago, Chile, she learned German and Spanish, gained a wider vision of the world, and discovered her passion for fine art painting. Her oil paintings depict combinations of nature and the city in geometric forms, vibrant colors, and display atmospheric views with an emphasis on the relationship between sunlight and its surroundings.
